LAN Party Aftermath

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

The LAN Party was a blast.  Ended up with about 11 people there, my kids included.  We never got around to trying any games in Linux, and I think a few people may have been disappointed by that, but we were just too busy having fun.  The night start off with some Counter Strike, then a little Team Fortress.  Later we moved on to Warcraft III, where my 10 y/o son put me to shame, and we ended the evening with Worms.  I guess we’re all getting older or something because the party was over by 2AM, so I went inside and played Halo for an hour, then went to bed.

We’re moving next month, and our new house has a smaller garage, so I’m not sure what that will mean for our garage LAN’s but I definitely want to try to pull something like this together more often.  There’s talk of a big New Year’s Eve LAN like last year.  We’ll have to see how that comes together.

Joplin Linux Users Group

So… anybody interested in starting a Joplin Linux Users Group?

I’m thinking a Linux only LAN party might be a good way to kick it off.

So if you’re interested in a Joplin LUG, or just a LAN party leave me a comment.

Meus X-Archa Infractus NON Est

That’s right!! My X-Box is NOT broken!!  Well, actually it still is, but I got a new one.  Now I just need to upgrade the HDD and load a different OS.

It’s dead Jim #3

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

Today’s episode is in honor of my XBox who at the moment cannot access his own hard drive. Thus, he is unable to boot and doesn’t work at all. He needs a name though. I usually just refer to him as my XBox. I’ve never considered naming him before, but I can’t give him a proper eulogy (or something somewhat possible having some resemblence to something that might possibly be kinda like or at least in a tiny bit similar to a eulogy) without giving him a name.
Thus I hereby dub my XBox Infractus X-Arca, which is latin and when translated means broken X-box!

Infractus X-Arca I knew him well
I used him daily and he was real swell
With streaming videos movies we’d see
And other shows we streamed with 802.11G
The games we played together were fun
But alas for now all that fun is done
You OS crashed because of my carelessness
Then I tried to fix it and made a bigger mess
So now I’m without my Infractus X-Archa
But I swear I will not quit trying to fix ya’

Now a moment of silence

OK, I gotta get back to work. C-ya!
