PhreakNIC 0×0b

Well it looks like I’m going to PreakNIC 0x0b in Nashville this October.  For those of you who chose not to follow the link, “PhreakNIC is an annual gathering in Nashville, TN, for hackers, makers, security professionals, and general technology enthusiasts.”  (0x0b = 11)  And it looks like I may get 3 or 4 of my friends to come with me.

Not only am I attending, but it looks like I have the opportunity to assist jeffx in a RootWar.  I’m pretty excited about this opportunity.  If you’ve been following my blog for awhile you should know that I’ve participated in a couple RootWars through LSO, and I’ve tried to put together a HackBox but never managed to come up with all the hardware I needed.  So this will be an opportunity to help put together a REAL RootWar with REAL professionals in REAL life.  All the LSO RootWars I’ve participated in were remote, and they weren’t competitions as much as a learning exercises.  I told jeffx that I don’t think I have the skillz to actually compete against REAL professionals, so I’m very happy to do some of the grunt work that needs done to get things setup and observe the PROS in action.  Maybe I’ll learn a thing or two, and more importantly, it should be a lot of fun.  What can be better than a group of a few hundred geeks hanging out!!!
