I created an intranet (at least that's what I call it) for our facility several years ago and recently switched it to WordPress. I'd love to extend it in the direction you're thinking of, but I don't have the know-how. We use ACS as our CHMS, Exchange Server 2000 for our calendars and EMS for facility management.
