It’s dead Jim!

My Twenty-four port Blackbox Gigabit Managed Ethernet Switch died today. At least I think it’s dead. I’m going to test it out a bit more before I call the manufacturer, but basically all network activity ceased all at once. So I replaced the switch and all was well again. It saddens me to see a piece of hardware that I was so proud of to cease to function, but it has. Thus I must move on with my life, but not without taking a moment to remember my Twenty-four port Blackbox Gigabit Managed Ethernet Switch. That’s a long title, so let’s just call him Philip.

Philip was a grand ol’ friend
But alas he has reached his end
He was black and had twenty-four
Gigabit Ports, not a one more
I could manage him remotely
And network traffic I could see
He even included QOS
Quality of Service he had, oh yes!
I could add an SFP
Optical Transceiver for fiber, you see
Port mirroring was so easy
But now he is dead to me

Well, that’s all the eulogy I want to come up with at the moment, so let’s observe a moment of silence…

So long Philip, I hope the RMA goes swiftly and your replacement is more reliable.
